Roberto Sevardi was born on 30 April 1865 in Coreggio, a province of Reggio Emilia in Italy.  From the age of 15 he began work as a farmhand.  It was here where the passion and admiration for the landscape was born.  Sevardi had set out to capture and discover as many scenes of country and city life – all depicted in a vision full of truth.

At the age of 20, he was offered a part time job in a monastery as a cook.  It was this work which financially enabled Sevardi to pursue his passion.  It was this freedom at the monastery which enabled him to develop his style, continually improving with every picture.  For at least 40 years, Sevardi continued to photograph the surrounding landscapes, in which he was highly acclaimed.

Honouring Sevardi’s talents, Via Sevardi (Sevardi Street) was the gift to him from the people of Reggio Emilia.  In return the people of this city are treated to frequent exhibitions of his work.
“From the cook to the photographer” we hope you have enjoyed viewing our collection of Sevardi’s work.

Following in Roberto’s tradition Sevardi Cucina Italiana owner Antonio Abassi offers discerning customers an evening of fine food and dining ambience.
